I have NO benefits from my employer. What can I do?

Your situation may be similar to mine.  I am a contract worker in sales part time and just got hired as part time relief (PRN) employee at a hospital with no benefits. I get concerned about how many hours I can work and how I'm going to manage paying my bills too.  I've been laid off  for a long time and had lost my employer sponsored health insurance plan.  So far I've been paying for myself and my children short term policies that last 4 to 6 months (max).  My wife still has her health plan from the job that she has.  When I buy a new policy there is the option to choose a deductible, coinsurance, and out of pocket maximum amount to fit my budget.  I prefer to pay lump sum upfront for more discount when I buy my new plan. Most plans are core medical so I use the FreeRxPlus discount card to help with buying my prescription medicines and with any blood tests I think may not be covered by my health plan.  There is a little bit of freedom doing it this way because you can choose your policy and can be rest assured that you will not lose coverage from another unseen downsizing or layoff.
