Donors can live with one kidney : Where can I donate?

A Donation Request for a kidney transplant is one of the hardest things for a kidney patient to do. It is one reason for websites such as www.livekidneydonation.org, where people can give to strangers. Though a kidney patient will eventually die without getting to the top of a Kidney Transplant list, many patients simply do not want to impact friends and family members. Their thinking is that such a sacrifice is too much to ask of another human being. A donation request for a kidney is no simple subject, yet the majority of kidney patients never asks, and relies instead on a kidney from a deceased donor. Living up to eight years on dialysis is the only option for those suffering from End Stage Renal Disease. Would you ask if the tables were turned? You might answer in the affirmative, however families are strange and you may be surprised at how many family members will decline such a request. That’s right blood relatives renege on what many see as duty and their reasons range from lifestyle judgment to looking forward to their own children and the possibilities that await them. Kidney Transplant Lists are different throughout the country, but 14 people die each day waiting for a kidney. Most will never see their name on the top of that list.  Donors can live with one kidney.  For more information on kidney donation you may go to http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/kidney-donor-mortality/ and also https://livekidneydonation.org/why-donate/
